Living By Faith: Galatians 4:21-5:1

Have you ever been in a class discussion with someone who hasn't done their homework? Paul admonishes the church at Galatia for not having done their theological homework before embracing false teaching. In today's passage, we learn that the rigorous and regular study of Scripture is the best preventative medicine and the only antidote against theological error.

Gospel Hospitality: The Final Session

Living By Faith: Galatians 4:12-20

Paul knows that speaking the truth can damage the relationship if the other person takes it poorly. Through these verses, we see that all true followers of Christ must be willing to engage in and receive the ministry of unpleasant truth. 
We engage in it by:
Building brotherly love
Refusing false flattery
Embracing the cost
We receive it by:
Humbly accepting the truth
Resisting resentment

Living By Faith: Galatians 4:1-11

Paul puts two paths before the Galatians in these verses. You can take the path of slaves, or you can take the path of sons. In essence, he says, "In Christ, you are sons and not slaves, so act like it!"
 
1. You are sons not slaves (4:1-7)
A. Slaves becoming sons - 4:1-5
B. A downpayment on a future inheritance - 4:6-7
2. So act like it! (4:8-11)

Living By Faith: Galatians 3:15-29

If we're saved by faith alone, then why did God give the law? In these verses, Paul explains the purpose of the law is to serve the gospel by teaching us what is right and wrong and pointing us to our need for Jesus Christ.
